About Carmen

From direct patient care to developing new tools for rehabilitation professionals.

Carmen Schenk is a clinical neuropsychologist specialising in neurorehabilitation and cognitive rehabilitation. Originally from Switzerland, she has completed most of her academic training and professional career in Valencia, Spain. Her international background and command of four languages complement her clinical and technological expertise.

She joined the Rehametrics clinical team in 2024, where she combines her hands-on clinical experience with technological innovation to drive new digital rehabilitation solutions and support their integration into clinical practice.

She has worked directly with patients with acquired brain injury and other neurological conditions at the Adult Brain Injury Unit of Hospital La Pedrera (Dénia), in collaboration with Centros Neural, and at Neuron Rehabilitación (Valencia). There she took part in neuropsychological assessment, therapy planning and individualised clinical intervention.

Throughout her clinical career she has worked within multidisciplinary teams of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists and other healthcare professionals, delivering coordinated interventions towards shared therapeutic goals from a transdisciplinary approach.

A graduate of the University of Valencia, ISEP and CEU Cardenal Herrera University, she also has experience in the assessment and treatment of stroke, autism spectrum disorder and cognitive impairment.

Clinical practice and technological innovation

At Rehametrics she has a dual role. On the one hand, she supports professionals in hospitals, clinics and rehabilitation centres as they incorporate digital tools into their therapy programmes. On the other, she works with the development team on the design, evolution and clinical validation of new exercises and features for the cognitive, physical and virtual reality (VR) rehabilitation modules.

On the blog she writes about cognitive rehabilitation, acquired brain injury, cognitive impairment and new technologies in neurorehabilitation, with a practical, evidence-based approach focused on clinical practice.
